Not sure which cut of hay your furry friend prefers? Let them choose! Our 1st and 2nd cut Timothy Hay included in our “Try Me” hay box is packed with fibre, stems and leafy greens, 100% natural and ideal for rabbits & small animals. The box size is 0.7 KG

  • Includes FREE UK Delivery!

Delivery to the UK on this item is free!

FIRST OR SECOND CUT? First Cut is tougher and contains lots of long stems and seed heads. Excellent for most rabbits but can be a bit hard for guinea pigs and smaller animals. Second Cut is softer than first cut, darker green, and is a mix of stems and leaf with fewer seeds. Ideal for smaller animals, and a great option for fussy eaters or older animals. Both are high in fibre and very nutritional.

HAPPY AND HEALTHY. Our fresh-smelling lovely green ultra-premium Timothy Hay has the perfect nutritional balance for your small animal. It's perfect to nibble and gnaw on which reduces their boredom when you're not around and it protects your rabbit from bloat and other tummy problems. A wonder food for rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, hamsters and degus

REDUCE YOUR VET BILLS. Our long stem hay is the perfect length and texture, with just the right amount of fibre, to naturally wear down your rabbit's teeth during chewing. Helping you avoid the high costs of having your vet file its teeth and the risk to your rabbit's life from being under general anaesthetic

NO MESS OR WASTE. Your Nibble & Gnaw Timothy Hay arrives in a re-closable cardboard box, with the hay packed into a 100% biodegradable bag. We do this for four reasons: the bag is really easy to open, hay doesn't fall out everywhere when you open the bag; it is easy to store; reduces mess and waste for every-day use. When your small animal has finished the last tasty morsel, your biodegradable plastic bag breaks down best if you place it in your black bin, and the cardboard box can be recycled

NO NASTIES & DUST EXTRACTED. We 100% quality check our hay when hand packing to make sure that what you receive is only our lovely pure hay free of unwanted nasty surprises from the field that could harm your small animals. We also remove the dust and brown leaf by first passing the hay through a blow tunnel, and then remove as much remaining dust as possible when we're hand packing, as we don't want any small animal (or any human) to suffer respiratory problems from our product

Our Hay can seem expensive versus other hays on the market, but we firmly believe in the old adage “you get what you pay for”.  That, though, doesn’t answer your question, so here are the two main reasons our hay is great value for money.

Firstly, in terms of cost per kg of hay eaten, you’ll find we’re cheaper!  Why? There’s very little of our hay goes into the bin versus low-price hay. Here’s why…

  • Dust free – we hand sieve our hay to minimise the amount of dust packed in the box, which has two benefits for you:
  • 99% of the product is edible hay unlike cheaper brands which have a high content of dust you need to throw away.
  • Your house isn’t getting covered in dust and you’re not sneezing or wheezing from hay dust
  • Hand-sorted – the team remove brown and dead leaves from the hay before it gets packed in the box, meaning there’s more nutritious goodness in every box
  • Fresh & nutritious – our hay is dried in the sun keeping it fresher, greener, and lovely smelling, so your little furry friend goes mad for it

But it’s not just the hay you’re paying for, our packaging is more expensive but we think it’s worth it. Here’s why:

  • Better Materials - Cardboard costs much more than shrink wrapped plastic, but It’s fully recyclable so there’s no waste or plastic going to landfill. (And our inner bag is compostable)
  • Easier to Store - The box is it easier to store in your home (and can be a little edible playground for your furry friend, just don’t let them eat too much of it!)
  • Less Mess - The easy to open and re-closable box stops hay going all over your home after opening
  • Longer Lasting – closing the box lid keeps the hay out of sunlight and fresher for longer than shrink-wrapped hays

Our hay is gently dried under the sun in open fields, never in a barn or using heavy machinery. This natural method helps keep the important vitamins and minerals your nibblers need to stay healthy and happy. It also brings out the fresh, natural flavor and aroma, making it extra tempting—even for picky eaters. Plus, our eco-friendly process reduces our impact on the planet, so you can feel great about choosing Nibble & Gnaw for your furry friends.

  • Variety for Nutritional Balance: Offering a mix of hays (timothy, orchard, meadow) can enhance nutritional diversity and prevent boredom.
  • Clean and Fresh: Replace any soiled hay daily to prevent contamination from urine or faeces.

Customer video review of First Cut Timothy Hay - Ultra Premium Canadian Hay for Rabbits and Guinea Pigs

Our guinea pig Angus used to be in and out of the vets with gut stasis. Either hay didn't digest well or he just didn't like it. For some reason, he only likes Nibble & Gnaw and his guts have been the healthiest out of our piggies ever since. It's clearly high quality as he's never had any dental problems, either. He loves burrowing in and hiding himself in it, too. Considering he has permanent scarring on his lungs after severe pneumonia, the fact that there's no dust at all means we can rest safely knowing that he won't be inhaling any nasty particles. It's the only brand we use for Angus now. He loves it!

Customer video review of Try Me - First and Second Cut Ultra Premium Timothy Hay Starter Pack

Owner: Love this, I have a very fussy bunny, this is the first hay she actually prefers over pellets which is what I was looking for. Super fresh. Fast delivery also is amazing as I always forget to check until I need more then have to rush an order. From Aiko: Hay good, box better 😂 (She loves cardboard so after she’s finished her hay she has a new toy to play with 😂)

Customer video review of First Cut Timothy Hay - Ultra Premium Canadian Hay for Rabbits and Guinea Pigs

From the owner; I have such a fussy bun, and was struggling to get her to eat the required amount of hay she needed for her dietary needs. But since trying this she is eating consistently and constantly. I honestly couldn’t be happier with it. It’s worth the extra money to see Aiko healthy and happy with her hay. From Aiko; Hay good but also come in a cardboard box I can play with for weeks after.

Customer photo review of Second Cut Timothy Hay - Ultra Premium Canadian Hay for Rabbits and Guinea Pigs

Apart from a few very, tough strands of hay, my guinea pigs liked the 2nd cut. They also enjoyed the boxes it came in after I cut a hole in each end. I liked the fast delivery and rapid response from customer service when I thought my first order had gone astray. For the record, it hadn’t. So far all good for Nibble & Gnaw.
